Description

Germanic fighting spatha from the migration period

Spathae have been known since Roman times and were later adapted and developed by Germanic tribes. They are sharp swords with broad, straight, double-edged blades that are wielded with one hand.

This is the reconstruction of the spatha as it was carried out in the Germanic settlement area from the 1st to the 6th century. The blade is forged from high quality spring steel and hardened to approximately 48 HRC. It has a pronounced fullness, which gives the sword great elasticity and lightness at the same time. The edge is not sharp. The pommel and crosspiece are made of riveted brass plates, which contain a horn disk inside. The handle is made of wood, brass and horn.

Delivery includes a matching wooden sheath. It is covered in leather and has a brass cap and medallion.
