The applicable rule depends on the product, its legal classification, the method of sale or handover and, where relevant, the destination. MARCIN applies legal restrictions and may add commercial checks when the nature of an item justifies them.

An age rule does not summarise the whole law.
In Belgium, weapons legislation distinguishes, among other categories, prohibited weapons, weapons subject to authorisation and freely available weapons. Obligations vary according to the category and the use. MARCIN therefore favours careful information over a broad formula that could be legally inaccurate.
Legal classification
The legal classification of a product takes precedence over its commercial name. Some categories are prohibited and others follow different rules. A simple “18+” notice never replaces that classification.
Sale, transport and carrying
Depending on the legal classification of the product, specific rules may apply to distance sales, handover, transport or carrying. Applicable law and any required legitimate reason must be respected.
No legal shortcut
MARCIN does not present an age restriction as permission to market a prohibited product. Items whose sale or possession is prohibited are not treated as ordinary goods. In case of doubt, official information or qualified legal advice takes precedence.
