Belgian house · Since 1960

A craft heritage, passed on since 1960.

Founded in Ciney by Jules Victor Marcin, Coutellerie Marcin grew from close ties with the butcher trade before developing, generation after generation, an expertise dedicated to cutlery and professional equipment.

MARCIN · 1960

From the butcher trade to a cutlery house.

The story began in Ciney in 1960. The business first developed around the needs of professional butchers, where choosing the right tool, its edge and its reliability are never secondary. That culture of useful, well-chosen products became the foundation of MARCIN.

1960 · Ciney

A family business born from professional know-how and carried forward by a second generation, with the same focus on the right tool for the right use.

Five milestones

A house that evolved without losing its roots.

From professional food trades to modern cutlery retail, each stage added a new layer of expertise while keeping the same practical relationship with the tool.

1960

Professional roots

In 1960, Jules Victor Marcin founded the business. Its first activity was linked to cattle slaughter, placing professional cutting tools at the very beginning of the MARCIN story.

~1970

Serving butchers

After roughly a decade, the activity expanded into wholesale supply for butchery professionals, including spices, casings and food-grade bags.

2000s

Passing it on

In the 2000s, the second generation took over and continued developing the family business around quality, continuity and service.

2015

A new chapter

In 2015, Sylvain Marcin joined the company. The renovation of the Ciney store and the launch of online sales marked a new stage in the house’s development.

Today

MARCIN now connects stores, e-commerce, cutlery, sharpening expertise and professional equipment, while preserving the family character of the house.
