Bowie knives first appeared during the Civil War, which was fought from 1861 to 1865 between the Northern states and the Confederate Southern states.
These knives were terrifying due to their size, had a long blade and mostly metal handguards, and were used as effective close combat weapons and tools.
This replica of the Bowie knife from this period has an unsharpened carbon steel blade on which the CSA (Confederate States Army) is incorporated. The handle is made of dark wood and has a brass handguard.
