Kai knife blocks are mainly made of European oak wood. We ensure that the raw materials come from forests which are carefully cared for and where the trees are reforested. This is just as important an aspect to the quality of the item as the first-class workmanship and contemporary design. Remember that wood is a living material and retains its natural properties even after processing. Natural ingredients in wood, such as tannic acid and tannin, prevent the formation of germs from food residues. However, you should clean the knife block from time to time with a damp cloth and wipe dry. Oiled surfaces should be treated with vegetable oil.
