Description
Parma - Roman round shield
The Parma is a Roman round shield used by auxiliary troops (auxilia). Unlike the scutum, this version of the shield is not curved but flat and round or oval in shape. Parma was also used by standard bearers and musicians.
Our replica is made of 1 cm thick plywood and has a brass shield boss. This must be fixed before use by the customer with the decorative screws provided.
There is a circular recess in the shield boss area, a full width wooden handle is attached to the rear. Parma is artistically painted on the front.
