The SUPERGRIND wheel has a grain of 220. This wheel preparer adjusts the wheel for a perfect finish, with a surface finish of around 1000 grain.

The rough side of the wheel preparer allows the wheel to return to its normal surface condition for rapid sharpening. Also reactivates a packed grindstone.

With the SP-650 grinding wheel preparer, you can change the grain size of the original Tormek grinding wheel to give it a finer sharpening surface. The other side of the wheel preparer is used to hold the wheel, bringing new abrasive grains to the surface for effective sharpening.

The original Tormek grinding wheel is designed to be treated with the grinding wheel preparer to change its quality from rapid grinding to fine sharpening. This has obvious advantages. Once you have created the desired profile on your tool, for example a chisel, you can obtain an even finer edge with the same wheel and grinding machine, with the same fixture and settings. In addition to the practical aspect of not having to change equipment, you have the assurance of keeping exactly the same cutting angle.

Switching to fine sharpening

If you want to adjust the wheel to a finer sharpness, press the fine side of the wheel preparer onto the surface of the wheel for approximately 30 seconds. This will change the function of the original Tormek wheel surface (220 grit) and make it work like a 1000 grit wheel.

Activation of the grindstone

When you want to return to the original 220 grit, simply press the coarser side onto the wheel for a few seconds until you notice a change in the surface of the wheel.

To maintain the freshness and efficiency of the grinder, use the coarse side of the grinder when you find it necessary. Press it firmly with your hands for 30 seconds. This process does not cause excessive wear on the wheel and can be repeated as many times as desired.
