If your grinding wheel becomes uneven, you can easily fix this with the Tormek TT-50 diamond wheel straightener.
It will restore your wheel to a perfectly round and flat shape.
This new design is made from cast zinc, which minimizes play and improves the precision and quality of the tool.
Easy distribution over the wheel
You will conveniently distribute the diamond cutting tool above the grinding wheel by rotating the two knobs alternately with both hands.
Thanks to this controlled distribution, you will obtain a flat and regular grinding wheel surface, without any grooves.
Controlled cutting depth
The cutting depth is precisely adjusted thanks to the micrometric adjustment on the universal support.
The adjustment scale has a step of 0.25 mm.
Watch the video for a demonstration of how it works.
Create a fine or coarse grained surface
With a higher dispensing speed on the grinding wheel (around 30 seconds instead of 90 seconds), the surface will have pronounced grooves, resulting in faster grinding.
This can be beneficial when sharpening or shaping hardened steel tools with a wide bevel surface, such as turning wood chisels and jointer/electric planer irons.
The slower the dispensing speed, the finer the surface produced.
A 90 second traverse time on the grinding wheel gives you a good finish with virtually no visible grooves.
For previous Tormek models
If you have an older machine, which does not have micrometric adjustment on the universal support, you can upgrade your machine with the new US-105 or US-103 universal supports for models with 200 mm grinding wheel.
Design
The tool is guided by the universal support, which also guides the devices, ensuring that the surface of the grinding wheel is always parallel to the tool installed in the device.
TRICK
If your wheel is very uneven, go over the wheel several times with a lighter cut rather than a single heavy cut.
This will be more effective.
Cutting too much can cause the wheel to vibrate.
