Combat knives have always played a secondary role in the five-part film series of old Vietnam Green Beret (1982-2019), from survival knives to modern tactical combat knives like the MK-8 and MK-9 - created by designer Dietmar Pohl. Combat daggers were also part of the equipment of the legendary special forces action hero.
Bulgarian knifemaker and designer Stoil Manchev had the great privilege of designing the second classic dagger ever used in the film series for the finale, Last Blood. Unique to its MK-10 design is the use of traditional Damascus steel, used only once on a knife in the entire film series.
With the MK-10, knifemaker Stoil Manchev has created a unique dagger that impresses with its modern design, high-precision CNC production and, in particular, its masterful craftsmanship in finishing. The heart of the MK-10 is the symmetrical, precision-ground blade made of stainless Damascus steel in the pattern of large roses. 59-60 Rockwell gives the blade an impressive edge.
Manchev has deliberately designed the handle scales to be thinner towards the end of the handle to provide another view of the tang and the impressive, lively damask structure. Added stainless steel bolsters, adjusted by hand then finely satin-brushed, pay homage to the cutlery art of yesteryear.
The bolsters are followed by grip scales in structured G-10, which also have an elegant matte surface. The MK-10 Last Blood is equipped with a Kydex® sheath with carry adapter, which is no less elaborate. To protect the finely engraved Damascus blade and bolsters from scratches, the interior is lined with a special insert. The dagger is safely stored in the nylon collection bag included in the delivery, which can also be used as a presentation base.
This first production collector's item, limited to just 600 pieces worldwide, is completed with a certificate of authenticity personally signed by Stoil Manchev and Dietmar Pohl and a photo print of the two designers. Matching the MK-8 and MK-9, this dagger from movie knife history should not be missing in any serious collection.
