Miamoto Musashi went down in Japanese history as one of the most imposing samurai and lived from 1584 to 1645. He is said to be Japan's finest swordsman. He was both an artist and a craftsman. Unforgettable is his founding of a handguard (tsuba) manufacturing school. Its most famous and very simple tsuba consists of two oval rings.
