The sport of lai-Do deals with the art of sword drawing and fixed attack techniques (katas), although in the form of a formal exercise. The iaito, a blunt training sword, is generally used. The emphasis is on developing the unity of body, mind and sword (Ki-Ken-Tai-Ichi). The highest degree of mastery is achieved when one masters every combat situation without even having to draw the sword. The name Kei-Ben represents the simple and practical design of the sword.
