Description

Didi Galgalu

Designed in collaboration with the Voetspore team in South Africa. A knife designed to resist the rigors of transcontinental travel of Africa.

Appointed according to the Didi Galgalu Desert in northern Kenya, considered by many as the last border of Africa. The Didi Galgalu uses a silk-filled construction. Three rivets reinforce the handle of African Kiaat wood. Slim enough blade for preform as a knife must during cutting or sculpture. The Scandinavian blade on the ground, genuine leather sheath and handle Kiaat wood ensures famous wild beauty Helle.

Maintenance
knives Helle are designed to keep their cleanliness as a companion outside throughout. But it is always important to take care of your knife and her sheath.

The handle. Dry the handle with a soft cloth so wet and wax from time to time.

The sheath. The leather must be impregnated from time to time with a colourless agent of impregnation (grass or wax) to keep supple. Dry the sheath carefully the ambient temperature if it becomes wet

The blade. Wipe the blade with a soft cloth so wet and treat with fat from time to time.

Cost
Use a diamond tool or wet stone for sharpening. Place the flat knives to the sharpening tool and work the entire blade. Work one side until you can feel a slight bavure on the opposite side. Put aside and repeat the procedure until you feel the blind on the first side. You have now established a edge.

Remove the bavures by rubbing the blade gently on the sharp surface on both sides, as if the cut of the very thin slices. Keep the bucket flat to the sharpener and move on one side to the other until the trepan is gone.

If the blade is very dull or damaged, use a meule and a lot for fine water grains and sharpen until you have a rough edge. Use the amount of cooling fluid and never sharpen on a dry stone. A hot front earth loses its heat treatment and the ruins of the blade.
