This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high-carbon alloys while providing the corrosion resistance of chrome stainless steels. Using their proprietary heat treatment process, you get a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent wear resistance and durability. You also have an easy-to-resharpen blade. For best performance, Buck hardens its 420HC blades to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.
