Product information

Using tungsten carbide for utility knife blades has long been considered impossible. Due to the extremely high degree of hardness and the resulting increased susceptibility to breakage, the miracle material in its previous form was not attractive to the knife industry.

Alessandro Colombatto, owner of Turmond SpA based in Turin / Italy, managed to find an ideal composition precisely for this purpose. With a still incredible hardness of "only" 71 HRC, Sandrin Knives' knife blades are quite flexible and considerably less susceptible to breakage than ceramic blades.

An edge retention is achieved that is far superior to any known conventional or modern steel. The manufacturer claims that the edge stays sharp 20 times longer than with the best high-end powder steels (see also comparison list). And although the blades contain no chrome, Sandrin knives are just as rust-resistant as stainless steel knives.

You can find more information about Sandrin knives in the manufacturer's description.

The TCK is the first and to date only tungsten carbide folding knife. Despite its hardness of 71 HRC, it is flexible like a scalpel blade. Due to the sliding lock, the blade is not locked, so that in Germany it is not subject to the wearing restrictions according to § 42a WaffG. It can therefore be used legally in Germany.
