Many of the ultra-light knives in the new Nightshade™ series are detailed replicas of existing popular Cold Steel blades. Again, some are entirely new creations.

The blades are made from Griv-Ex™, the latest in glass-reinforced plastic. Griv-Ex™ is even stronger than Zy-Ex™, the ultra-hard material used on previous Cold Steel models. Each blade is also UV and heat stabilized, making it weather resistant.

These knives are characterized among other things by their unique deeply serrated handles. The handles are directly overmolded with Kray-Ex™. The use of Kray-Ex™ in the design of knife handles was an innovation of Cold Steel in the early 1980s.
