Product information "G- Weisenau in steel with bush helmet"
Imperial Gaulish Roman Helmet -G- Weisenau steel with helmet panache
This Roman helmet (also known as Galea or Cassis) is a faithful replica of a so-called "G" imperial helmet Weisenau (Gaulian imperial "G" Weisenau) from the middle of the first century AD. The remarkablely well preserved original artefact in iron and bronze was recovered in the Rhine near Mainz-Weisenau and can be admired at the Andreasstift museum in Worms. The characteristic identification characteristics of this particular type of helmet were (among others) the protection of the slope neck, pronounced eyebrows, frontal strip and circular decorative rosettes.
This authentic replica of a Roman officer helmet with moving play flaps is made of 1,2 mm polished steel and richly decorated with brass applications. Since the helmet has no integrated lining, the delivery includes a padded hood made of cotton, making it comfortable to wear. Small rings inside the flaps of the cheeks also offer the possibility to attach a jugular (not included).
The two-colored black and white crista, which was probably reserved for Roman soldiers with special powers within the cohort (e.g. the Optiones, the most graduated officers after centurions), is in a natural crin. With the supplied brass support, the helmet socket can be properly attached to the Roman helmet.
