Miamoto Musashi lived from 1584 to 1645 and went down in Japanese history as one of the most impressive samurai. He is considered the best Japanese swordsman. He was both an artist and a craftsman.

The Musashi Ichi Tanto has a hand forged carbon steel blade with a fine hamon and has been traditionally tempered. The sharp blade features a hi (fuller) to reduce overall weight. The handle (tsuka) is made of wood, covered with real fish skin and has two menukis. Additionally, it is traditionally wrapped in black cotton. The silk is particularly long and fixed with two bamboo pegs (mekugi). The sheath (saya) is made of wood and the blade collar (habaki) is made of brass. This model was made based on the original museum exhibits. The tanto comes with a certificate of origin, wrapped in fabric and packaged in a high quality wooden box.
