BLADES are made from English 420 HC (high carbon) surgical grade stainless steel or German 1075 high carbon steel and are heat treated and annealed to approximately 52-54 Rockwell for machetes ( a measure of hardness) and 56-58 for knives. Each edge is hand finished and polished to razor sharpness.
Ax heads and shovel blades are made from 1045 high carbon steel. Axes are heat treated and annealed to 45-50 Rockwell (a measure of hardness) and shovels to 40-45.
VACUUM ASSIST INVESTMENT CASTING is a special manufacturing process we use to make some of our axes and knives from 440C stainless steel. This process allows to obtain more details and resistance of the product.
SANDED SATIN FINISH is achieved by sandblasting or grit blasting the exposed metal portion of the blade.
ULTRABLAC2 FINISH is a black oxide finish for enhanced rust prevention that also provides a tactical look. This special finish is baked into the metal at 285°F. The finish coating meets and exceeds many United States military specifications. and other elite battle groups around the world, and is well known for its metal protection and abrasion resistance.
MYSTIC CAMO FINISH is a secret finishing process developed by Condor® Tool & Knife to add a random black and gray camouflage pattern to its blades. This process does not involve any paint or other surface additions. This special finish is part of the surface of the blade and will not rub off.
EPOXY BLACK POWDER COATING is a thick black paint finish achieved by powder coating.
CONDOR® BLACK TEXTURED POWDER COATING provides a tough and durable blade finish. It is also textured, non-reflective for tactical use.
CONDOR® NATURAL FINISH is a raw metallic look that can be just as eye-catching as any other finish, and similar to a well-worked pair of jeans. This special treatment on the top of the blade helps repel rust.
CONDOR® CLASSIC FINISH is a perfected process of hand hammering our classic series of axes and knives. It gives a classic, enhanced look to an already well-made tool. Our employees use manual equipment to lay out this traditional pattern, to make it look like it was hand-forged over 200 years ago. The Classic Series is a hit with historic camping enthusiasts, mountaineers and colonial period war re-enactors.
POSZEGRIP SANTOPRENE® HANDLES are strong but have just enough softness to provide a real padded grip. These handles are molded directly onto the knife blades, have a non-slip texture, and feature full tang construction with a metal lanyard eyelet that runs through the tang for added strength.
HIGH IMPACT POLYPROPYLENE HANDLES are strong and indestructible. These handles are molded directly on our machete blades and knives making them inseparable. The tongue of our polypropylene handle continues to the back of the handle, with a metal strap running through it for extra strength.
AMERICAN HICKORY HANDLES are used in our axes, the wood is selected for proper grain orientation and specially assembled for maximum comfort and durability.
HARDWOOD HANDLES are made from Central American hardwoods, similar to hickory, and are used in some of our machetes and knives. They are finished with a smooth grip and are known for their long durability.
MICARTA® HANDLES are used in some of our tools, enhancing both appearance and function while providing indestructible phenolic performance.
