Fixed knife Contact HCS, Extrema Ratio
Extrema Ratio has developed the first knife of a new production line called CONTACT.
It has a blade with a lance-shaped profile, a flat grinding wheel and a diamond-shaped geometry. It features a lower guard to protect the hand from accidental cuts, an upper jimping to improve grip, a full length concave and a generous blade gauge (6.30mm). All these details make the Contact the big brother of the now famous Requiem, which has been revised in its proportions and certain technical characteristics. The first of a new line of utility knives.
The blade is made of Böhler N690 steel with a hardness of 58 HRC and a chemically blued coating for the black version. All other colors in production have a stonewashed finish blade. The handle is always in forprene. It is no longer assembled by the side screws, but thanks to the stainless steel stem in the shape of a truncated cone, which is screwed to the base and fits into a special seat that makes it solid. This way the knife is well balanced. The sheath is minimalist; most of the fabric is cut off; it has a retention system that recalls the style of the model that inspired it.
The main shell is injection molded from impact resistant nylon. The secondary restraint system is convertible for ambidextrous users. The blade is guided in the scabbard thanks to its conical shape which lends itself well to quick insertion and removal of the blade. To release the blade, simply press the pressure lever, which releases the safety device which securely holds the blade in the scabbard. In the horizontal slots of the scabbard there is a system that fixes the blade to avoid rattling noises when stored inside. The back of the nylon sheath is M.O.L.L.E.
The textile part is reduced to a minimum and has the classic two-button safety strap with a belt loop and a thigh band with rubber reinforcement to prevent rotation. Extrema Ratio targets this new line by reducing the thickness and size of the knife to a minimum, but without sacrificing structural strength and safety accessories.
