The Condor pirate sword is reminiscent of the sword of the Caribbean pirates, originally from the island of Hispaniola. The term "boucan" refers to landless boar and cattle hunters who settled in the largely uninhabited areas of Tortuga and Hispaniola and became pirates. The meat they caught was smoked over low heat in small huts, which the French called boucanes, to produce boucanée meat – jerky – which they sold to the French Kosars. Eventually the term came to be applied first to privateers and later to privateers themselves.
