The Camillus Tigersharp skinning knife has a 420J2 bonded titanium blade with an ABS handle. 420J2 is a low carbon, high chromium stainless steel, making it a shock-absorbing steel that bends instead of breaking. 420J2 has excellent corrosion resistance, high stain resistance and fair edge holding ability. ABS is a thermoplastic polymer with plastic and rubber properties providing durability, strength and resistance to extreme temperatures. It is a material commonly used to make knife handles. Titanium Bonded is not painted or plated, but the application of a unique formulation of titanium and chromium nitride to the surface of the cutting blades which penetrates and treats the metal to create a permanent bond. The patented titanium bonding process offers the following advantages; corrosion resistance, adhesion resistance and the process itself makes stainless steel 3 times harder than untreated stainless steel, providing a blade that stays sharper for longer.
