The XB-100 horizontal base allows you to sharpen while the wheel rotates in the direction of blade towards edge rather than in opposition. The XB-100 horizontal base was supplied as standard on all Tormek S-2000 and S-1200 machines after August 8, 2001. If your machine is older, you can complete it with a horizontal base.
