Why the MB-102 Multi base?

It allows you to sharpen a perfect flat bevel on the flat side of the diamond wheel.

It is perfect for sharpening luthier knives, Kiridashi knives, chisels, carving knives, Japanese planes, etc.

Allows vertical front mounting of the universal holder - better access for sharpening knives in the direction of rotation, and for guided sharpening using knife sharpening devices.

Compatible with Tormek T-8, Tormek T-4 and older models.

A perfectly flat bevel

When sharpening is carried out on the curved side of the wheel, the resulting bevel is slightly concave. For some tools, a flat bevel is preferable. In this case, sharpening must be carried out against the flat side of the diamond wheel.

Note: Sharpening on the side of the wheel with the MB-102 Multi base is only recommended for diamond wheels. We do not recommend it for sharpening with normal grindstones as they wear out and need to be readjusted, which is not possible on the side.

Fully adjustable to fit your specific tool

The MB-102 Multi base features an adjustable joint that allows you to fix the sharpening position according to the optimal setting for each tool and device. You can mount the MB-102 Multi base on your machine's vertical or horizontal supports, whichever best suits your tool, device, or position.

Sharpen knives in the direction of rotation of the grindstone, and guided honing using knife sharpening devices

When you mount the MB-102 Multi base horizontally on your Tormek machine, you can mount the universal stand vertically on the front of the machine. Basically, you are converting the horizontal supports of the machine into vertical supports.

This allows better access for sharpening knives whose cutting edge is in the same direction as the rotation of the wheel, and for guided honing using knife sharpening devices. Many users prefer to sharpen knives with the edge in the direction of rotation of the wheel on the Japanese Waterstone, to ensure that the edge does not catch on the softer wheel.
