The first FAROL knife was born in 1995 in the Azores, a volcanic Portuguese island in the middle of the Atlantic, in the saloon of Rinpo'ché, a sailboat stopping over. The skipper, Sylvain Berthommé, toured the Atlantic with his family and in the evening at the vigil, he shaped his dream piece by piece: a prototype knife for sailors. Its brand will be FAROL, flagship in Portuguese, and the first knife will be named Cachalot, the large cetacean which forged the legend of the Azores. |
